Chandler, Arizona - Isola Group S.a r.l. is the market leader of copper clad laminates and dielectric prepregs used in the production of advanced multilayer printed circuit boards (PCBs). Today, it is announced that it has successfully completed the level 2 test of conductive anode wire (CAF) of the laminate materials; Laminate material is made of glass fiber woven by Isola Fabrics, a subsidiary of Isola Group S.a r.l.
CAF is a failure mode of PCBs under high humidity and high voltage gradient conditions. The successful completion of Bosch's Level 2 CAF test will help open a broad prospect for its future application in electric vehicles. The electrochemical migration test was carried out at 85 ℃ and 85% relative humidity with a bias voltage of 100 volts. PCB samples produced by Schweizer Electronic AG were used in the test, including 120 electrical holes with a spacing of 0.65 mm. Two different resin systems with a total of six layers were used. The models of glass fiber cloth were 106, 1080, 2116 and 7628. Isola's laminate material test time exceeded 1000 hours of the test program, and there were no electrical problems or CAF failures. The success of this test provides insight into the development of optimized CAF resistant materials for electric vehicles and other high voltage applications.
